FUN in the mountains and more of what you came to the mountains for was our goal in
creating the Best Bets section of our site.
We understand that no matter how good a time you had the last time you visited like all of
us you still look for new things to do and places to go while still savoring the familiar and
the comfortable when you visit. To that end we have added businesses who in our opinion
provide good local food, necessary services, places to stay, and things to do as well as new
businesses or businesses that have fresh faces and new offerings.
Each month we will highlight one such business and maintain a list of links for you to visit
the website to save you time, money and the frustration of trying to find things to do or
places to go.

Leaf Information
The secret is out... Its Chlorophyll.
We finally researched the age old question of the leaf and why it changes color and guess
what we found out.....
The yellow color is always there, the red color is manufactured upon the withdrawal signal
of the green monster.... Chlorophyll and what causes Chlorophyll to break down ? You
guessed it the cool temperatures of fall. Get a cool September and October and the
Chlorophyll breaks down and regresses the always present yellow is revealed and new red
pigment is manufactured and the result is the beauty of fall in all its glory.
We are now working on why are some years better than others and how to predict a good
year... This will take some research which we will do this winter and publish the results in
the spring in time to give you an opportunity to track the season and see how good you
are at predicting how good the color will be next fall.
